    Onken crossover

Looking for a design for use with an GPA 416-C in the Onken enclosure.
I've searched here, the Lansing Heritage forum & not been able to come up with a definitive design.

I have two options for the mids & top end.

Option 1: Timber tractrix horn with Klipsch K55 / JBL 2404H tweeter
Option 2: Timber tractrix horn with GPA 399 / JBL 2404H tweeter

I see Hiraga recommends 600Hz for the crossover to the mid driver.

Not having any great technical expertise in these matters, but I see some people have used simple 1st order networks, others 2nd order & so on. Is it a matter of personal taste? I read things like "do I need a Zobel network on the woofer?" & "do I need to build in EQ for the horn?" & then I get really confused.

    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks,
    John

    Hi John,
The Z-19 crossover, based on the Model 19 has a lot of adherents and there is a lot of functionality. You would probably need to change some of the components to fit your drivers and situation.

Yes, I've looked at the Z-19's The crossover on those would bearound 1200Hz (way too high) & I believe the Z19 would have eq built in to the mid & top end.
I wouldn't dare attempt to try to change this to suit my proposed set - up. I'd end up blowing the tweeters because I was feeding them the low range signal!!! They're tough, but not that tough!!
    Thanks anyway.

    Re: Onken crossover

Hei contact Werner Jagusch, his autoformer crossovers totally transformed my altec 604-8g's. If his crossovers can do this for my 604s, I imagine he can do quality crossovers for your 3 way plans as well.

Examples of some of the crossovers and components he sells.

    Thanks Kjartan,

Looks like he does good work......a bit hard to decipher the text into English. I'll try contacting him to see if he has a solution.
    Thanks,
    John
